Directions to Eshowe

Only an hour from Ballito, Eshowe is an amazing place to visit if you want to spend some time exploring our beautiful ecotourism projects, cultural adventures, and historical attractions.

From Durban

  • Go North up the N2 highway past the Umhlanga, King Shaka Airport, Ballito, Stanger and Mandini off ramps
  • You will notice that the bridges start becoming numbered counting down from
  • Pass under bridge number 9 and take The Dokodweni Off-Ramp : Exit 277, (Route 66 to Gingindlovu / Eshowe / Ulundi)
  • Turn Left onto Route 66 towards Eshowe
  • About 25km on Route 66, follow the signs Left into Eshowe

From Johannesburg

  • Get onto the N3 heading South East
  • Take the Heidelberg offramp : Exit 59, which is the R23 toward Heidelberg / Standerton
  • Stay on the R23 past Balfour, Greylinstad, Standerton until you get to Volksrust
  • At Volksrust, take the N11, and then turn left onto the R34 (Before Newcastle)
  • Pass Utrecht, go through Vryheid and head towards Melmoth whilst staying on the R34
  • The R34 becomes Route 66, so keep on that road until you get to Eshowe

Alternatively you can hop onto a taxi from durban which will bring you right in to the Eshowe terminal which is less than 5 minute walk from the Zululand Backpackers.
